Re: Spark only bin to turn 808 into programmable ignition ecu
The man got to the track minus stockcar last night. Too late to do much about it he investigated a bit of a rumble, turned out to be a munted front bearing in the gearbox and a cracked case - bugger!
As for the last couple of posts i think i'll start by going over this week with my timing light and make a TDC mark on the ballancer and see how much....if any...advance its getting and go from there - i really don't feel like rewiring it but what the hell if its gotta be done, mind you it was wired up by a pro auto electrician

Build it, Race it, Break/Bend it ; Repeat.

the aussie guys used to just run module only and lock the timing at 28 degrees by moving the cas bit dodgy really
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: Spark only bin to turn 808 into programmable ignition ecu
I'll go back to the original topic.
I've just started on spark only into the 808 on my 351 Cleveland.
It has an reluctor type distributor which I have removed the mechanical and vacuum advance from today, it has a small and large lug from the reluctor and them marked A & B, hopefull small is negative and large is positive as per Holden202's post elsewhere.
Things I have so far are:
* Distributor
* 808
* Camira wiring
* MAP Sensor
Things to get
* Camira ignition module
* Camira ignition coil
Next step is to fit it all, modify a 4cyl netres as per other posts for a V8 and modify a bin.
Was thinking originally to base of a 5 Litre spark map and adjust ref angle to 10degrees.
Is there anything else I need to get started?
I know VSS, TPS, ECT and IAT would be nice, but at this stage would just like to get it to run and I can set the spark changes in the ECT and IAT all to zero.

sounds like you've pretty much covered all the bases
although a holden v8 spark map might be too good for a ford

Thanks Holden202.
I agree with the spark map, but I have to start somewhere.
Will let you all know how I go, I'm sure there will be plenty more questions.

I have been running my 360 Chrysler V8 with igniton only for 12 months now without any problems, using the setup you intend using.
Hope the information below is of use to you.
Below is a link for the wiring diagram that i have used.

And the current bin file that i am running(LPG tune).

Re: Spark only bin to turn 808 into programmable ignition ecu
Mechcano,
Thanks for your input, it is much appreciated.
So far have managed to get the camira module mounted to the distributor and wired up.
Initially I'll try without the coolant sensor, but plan on getting a later model thermostat housingt that has provision for a sensor on it.
If your map is set for LPG it's proabably has a bit too much advance for me, but I'll compare it with a Holden V8 and see.
Thanks again,

Here is a a bin more suited to petrol.
and the XDF file to suit.
