Re: Mrfiat's fiat 131
yeah definitely starts easy and runs nice and smooth
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: Mrfiat's fiat 131
MrFiat has been driving this almost non-stop since we gave it a rough tune a month ago, it hadn't missed a beat but the tune was a little rougher in some spots than others and fuel economy wasn't fantastic - so we spent a few hours today sorting out a few issues.
First off we installed MrFiat's new 14point7.com Spartan WB, very simple but impressive bit of kit
After that we wired in a knock sensor and filter module. Unlike my Alfa, the Fiat twincam has a plethora of potential sensor mounting locations to choose from - we settled on using one of the fuel pump block-off plate bolts because it was a bit higher up the block than some of the other spots.
After configuring the filter with some ballpark settings we were off and running (well we were at least once I remembered to plug the sensor in...) then a couple of minutes tweaking the settings on the road and it was giving great results - we didn't have to touch it again all day after that.
Both our laptop's batteries were flat by the time we'd finished, but the end result seemed pretty good. It was already pretty close to the mark with timing, but there were a few big flat spots that we sorted out which made a huge difference.
It hasn't lost any of it's old italian car charm though - mainly thanks to massively oversized injectors and TB, but they may come in handy later on

Re: Mrfiat's fiat 131
thanks for the update, always good to hear of a result like that So hitting about 12:5:1 AFRs on AE when sticking in the boot?
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396
Re: Mrfiat's fiat 131
Yeah 14.6:1 light cruising, 12.5:1 when you put the boot in.. and mid 11 at idle No idea how it hasn't fouled the plugs yet...
The injectors are something like 34lbs from a 2.3L turbo 4 - accellerating at 5k rpm they're only getting up to about 30% DC so there's a bit of headroom still

Re: Mrfiat's fiat 131
Been driving non stop and its been great! fuel economy has improved considerably, better than the car has ever been in any configuration (single carb, twin down draft, twin side draft)..Last Sunday i went for a drive through the royal national park to test my new gopro camera, here is a little vid i put together

Over the last few months ive been slowly building up a second turbo engine. Here are some pics

Re: Mrfiat's fiat 131
What are peoples opinions on rising rate fuel pressure regulators? Im planning on upgrading my fuel pump and injectors so im wondering how necessary one is? will the n13 pulsar fuel pressure regulator currently fitted to my car be sufficient? if not can anyone recommend one that will do the job.
More to come.
Thanks,
Andrew.
