Keep in mind $5D does not support boost, and the $5D '2 bar' tune thats getting around is an ugly calibration hack to a Normally Aspirated only operating system. You would be greatly better off running 12p and using its multiple map functions, even from eprom or eeprom.

yeah, my user name is misleading for this project lol. the gem is using $12p with a nvram, this project is na. will the nvram support $5d to get the tune right using real time tuning before i program it to the 27c256? or do i have to just log it then re-program till i get what i need?

No, $5D does not support realtime editing or high speed comms. You can only log $5D at 160 baud, and that will be a giant very slow pain in the ass lacking most the info you can expect from $12P. Why not tune on $12P instead - then you can use the nvram to tune and copy it to an eprom/eeprom when your done?

maybe i'll just have to tune $12p & then build a replica $5d tune from that.

Re: 102 - Advanced Tuning Of A Delco ECM with $12P
was thinking some more could i have $5d on the low address and have $12p on the high address. so as without the switch it looks $5d but when switched will run $12p. obviously disconnecting battery to switch over. that way i can live tune it then just stack it on a $5d & program to a 27c512 so there is room

this wouldn't happen to be a in a street stocker ??? I don't know why they allow the ecotec but insist on having to run a vn/vp computer!
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!
