just saying hi and all. i found this site looking for info on a project that im undertaking with my brother in law. he bought a VS V6 sedan with the intention of competing in the local burnout comp. he had a few ideas on which direction he wanted to go, one of which was to have the air filter or filters coming up through the bonnet. so i set out looking for info on mafless tune setups for the ecotech, of which i didnt find much till google found me delcohacking. anyway i read through a heap of threads and came across Holden202T's peice on his torry, very interesting. so we are going to go in the direction of using a VN engine harness and ecu as he did and will use the tune he provided as a base just as soon as i get hold of the uv eraser and eprom burner (we have a couple of stock memcals). im thinking that losing sequential injection isnt going to make a difference in mid to high rpm conditions anyway. i say that we will most likly get a whole "doner" car as we would like to have a few spare driveline components and will definatly be using the VN auto. i will like to eventually like to improve on the car by tuning and basically making a tune that will suit burnouts. stuff like increasing rev limit but still retaining it to protect the engine, maybe control thermo fans a bit more. the car will end up with adjustable fuel reg and probably L67 injectors and a walbro or something in the tank and a few other bits and bobs thrown into the mix, so im looking forward to having a go at the tuning side of things. anyway i will back on here asking you guys for advise or ideas on what and how to do things, im up for criticizm so let me have it.

welcome to the site.
what physical mods are you planning on doing to the engine? a stock fuel pump and stock injectors can handle even a small cammed v6, getting bigger injectors and fuel pump is only useful for large cams and/or boost, as they only serve to provide more fuel, which the standard engine doesnt need. there is no horsepower gains. I would advise you not to bother buying them until you are pushing enough air into your engine to need them, as you will gain nothing really....
the ecotec engine running on the v6 ecu is pretty responsive and you should be able to do some decent burnouts on it, but the real fun will come with boost

I can't really remember but I had a feeling I increased the rev limit slightly over stock ecotec, but the motor don't make power much over the stock limit

if your planning on burnouts for it i'd suggest increase the rev limit a bit and use the spark reduction settings in the tune to stop it hitting the limiter as you will only lean the motor out on the limiter, would be better to get the timing just right so it can hold high rpm but not hit the limiter!

either way it should be a good project and im keen to see how the tune works on other motors!

I am the said brother in law. The only real physical mods would be a twin throttle body system only coming out of the top of the plenum rather than the side.
another plan we had was to go a single turbo nothing spectacular but the only thing about going turbo is we would go up a class in the local comp, we would end up going from the 6 cyl class up to the 8 class.
so we are trying to keep it a fairly budget build and retain it as a n/a 6 but trying to get as much power as we can out of it. But as i just said to holden202t im not worried about blowing up the motor..

Twin TB's on top is fairly easy to do. I would recommend that you get rid of the standard ecotec plenum lid and find a thick solid bit of alloy plate, that will make mounting the Tb's a lot easier and connecting the butterfly shafts so they operate together. Maybe fit a MACE plenum spacer to help air distribution as well.

I would recommend fitting a thermo fan bypass switch, that way you can have the thermo fan going as soon as you start the burnout rather than waiting for the engine to get hot before it kicks in. A slightly cooler thermostat will help get the coolant to the radiator quicker as well.

Also fit a decent trans cooler, maybe one with it's own little thermo fan to help try and keep that trans cool.

get a thick alloy plate and fit a holley onto it hahaha that would spin a few people out
