i have connected my Opel Motronic ECU with "OPCOM".

Ah - looks like this is exactly what I need, if I want to communicate with m1.7 alfa 164ts ecu.
Are there any USB KKL interfaces you can recommend for this (I've heard it's not always that straight forward to connect to pre-OBD cars with these cables, some timing out, etc)?

Should any of the cheap blue cables usually called "KKL VAG-COM 409.1 USB FIAT Ecu Scan" or similar on ebay work for this?

EDIT: ok, pulled the trigger on this one, hopefully it's not the wrong one :D

In theory, yes that cable *should* work fine.
I've had mixed success with ebay KKL cables (and I've tried quite a few), generally I've found most of the FTDI based ones to work ok.
The cables I've had the least amount of trouble with look like this:

It should be the "K-line" on pin 7 in the OBDII-connector if you intend to communicate with any propulsion-ECU.
