HSV VS GTS cable to hydraulic setup

I bought a 6 speed box yesterday that came out of a HSV VS GTS, seller mentioned something about having the original HSV cable to hydraulic setuo, I had no idea what he was on about until I saw it.

I've never seen or heard of this before, so thought I'd share it. Pictures tell the story, but basically this box bolts to the side of the T56, original cable clutch goes in, pulls on the lever which pushes the master cylinder. There is a hyraulic line runs over the top of the box to the slave cylinder on the other side. I'm guessing the switch is for cruise cancel as I can't think of any other use for it.

I'm almost tempted to use this setup going into my VS S3 Maloo as I've got a spare cable setup and this is original equipment from HSV, but then why would I want to complicate things.

That is weird, Holden did change over to the Getrag transmissions on the VS so a full hydraulic clutch set up was available.

Yeah, that's why I was surprised, HSV could have just stuck the getrag hydraulic setup in.

yea but i think they continued the z06 6 speed trans till vs and was only available in the gts range which would explain the hydralic setup what trans is it a t56 or z06?

edit
sorry just reread the whole post and i thought it was a different setup still interesting to see maybe the throw on the standard hydralic setup wasnt long enough and required a larger bore diameter to keep pressures down

Could be z06, looks like a T56 to me, but then I haven't looked closely at it. Definitely out of a VS GTS.

The guy I bought it off had it in a VN SS behind a VT roller motor. He set it up with the hydraulic pedal box, but I'm not sure whether the master cylinder is the Getrag or something else.

i can never see 90% of the logic or lack of it that goes into car design :P

It makes for an easy conversion from cable to hydraulic clutch, I'll give them that much. I'd have to guess they came up with this setup in the series 1 & 2 VS GTS before Holden introduced the Getrag.

I'm currently looking for a VS hydraulic pedal box if anyone has one laying around ;)

I'm the exact opposite, I want to fit a T56 box to my Senator but want a cable clutch as I don't like the pedal feel with a hydraulic set up.

It's a better setup than the LH Torana hydraulic conversion I can tell you that much
