14Point7 Spartan Wide Band Kit

Looking at this kit
http://www.14point7.com/ half way down page.
Like the look of it. I only want input to ecu no gauges or controllers. This one is built into the lead nice and neat. I plan on incorporating it into the engine loom.
Also thinking of just running this with the narrow band simulated output. Is that best practice?

yep,
thats what I have done. I make a 4 wire o2 plug end for the WB so I get NB simulated, heater power, heater ground and ECU/engine ground. And when I don't use it the standard NB goes back into that plug
under the dash near the ecu I have a 1 way connector for the analogue WB input. so Its a plug and play solution.
mind you I have tapped the NB ECU ground into the rest of the low noise grounds that run to the engine block, otherwise the NB ground is a virtual one and has no capability of providing high enough current to run the controller in the WB.
It was only ever like this on VN2 to VP all other models I have looked at have the grounds tied so it wont be necessary to do that like I did.

Thanks guys. Mines a VR Commodore so will check the earthing set up.

VR should be fine, the diagram shows they are tied to the engine block.

ive built and used a lot of alans creations over the years they work well and and are nicely priced.ive tested my slc diy beta wideband unit to near death and its still more reliable the the LM1 i have.i really want an idash 8 egt's and dual wideband plus ect air temp x2 rpm etc

Thanks for that I think I will get one. $115 US delivered to Australia is good.
The compact size and especially the narrowband simulated output has sold me on it.

Narrowband sim voltages may not work properly doesnt look like its configurable via pc .

How do you find the narrow band simulated output? Interesting after reading Delcowizzid post earlier.
For tuning purposes could I just use the wideband and change the stoich value to say 14.8 so it won't need a NB?
