Has anybody ever altered the traction control settings?

When traction control kicks in it seems to hit hard rather then been progressive. It's almost dangerous (was pulling out into traffic and lost all power momentarily). An LSD will certainly assist here (I'm already looking) but a little wheel spin never hurt anybody

I know what you mean its more of a hazard when it drops the cylinders off and recovery rate is so slow!
On mine I left the timing retard , over fueling alone and just adjusted it so it keeps all cylinders firing and it makes a bit better.

Yeah, it can't be good for anything, especially the drive train the way the power cuts. There was a bit of a bang so I think it's hammering the drive shaft couplings.

OK, so I've zeroed out the "TCS - Cyl Cut vs Mode" table and we'll see what happens.

Could it be set so its off unlese you hit the tc to turn it on is is it more part of the BCM??

If it's triggered through a relay you could possibly change the relay type from a normally on to a normally off.

I don't know if I want it off completely. The missus drives it mostly, however my limited driving experience has shown that if traction is lost that just coming off the gas completely can induce a rather nasty correction where as if the power is controlled and just reduced the back end tends to come back into line easier (and it's a lot easier on the gear). Hell , I don't know, I don't have a fancy engineering degree from MIT.

you are right there.

when i get in a sticky situation, I am using the throttle rather than brakes and its easy to correct that way.
with a manual transmission it even easier as throttle off acts like rear brakes, throttle on push the rear around to where you want.

It is switched on/off though the abs/traction module on the front of the unit under the bonnet.

Well I zero'd out the cylinder cut option and altered the available torque table to a minimum of 50% (instead of the 0% standard) it definitely is less sensitive but it still does cut in if you really get the wheels going. Doesn't cut as hard though, no major bang like the first time it came on. I'll leave it for now until I get an LSD sorted for it.
