The twin cam tensioner is a weird beast, its actually this thing here on the side of the front of the engine.

And it tensions the chain based on oil pressure. In order to set it, you need to push the shaft in until it locks and install it in the engine. When the engine turns it'll unlock and the shaft will extend and tension the chain, and lock at the point it needs to be at. Its shown here extended, and reset ready for install.

Great news there antus, just a headgasket is much easier to fix. And after its all back running she should be running better than it has been in a long while

Glad to hear it was only a gasket. I had ask a mate at a local wreckers to keep an eye out for head for you just incase you required one. That twin cam head set up look very simular to the Toyota/Yamaha head design on my engine. It would be interesting to know if one copied other or not.

So is there still plans for boost?

Thanks for keeping an eye out for me  I'd still pick up a head as a spare as If I came across one.

It would be interesting to know the heritage of the engine. Both jap, so likely they did see each others engines. When did your style of toyota engine come out? This engine design dates back to the bellett GT-R G161w which came out in 1969. Im still gathering parts to boost this car, and will do that one day, but for now i'll get back to getting the sr20 turbo gemini track car worthly by april. The suspension is going in now, and then I'll need to do the efi (swap the haltech e6x for ose12p on delco), get a cage in it, and sort out where reverse gear went last time i had it on the track.

hey i don't suppose you took note of any numbers on your injectors while you've had it all apart have you ?

looks like the bores still have hone marks in them so she should have plenty of life left in it anyways!

oh and you don't need reverse gear for a track car :P

Yeah, got all the injector numbers, put all the details against the tune in the ose12p tunes thread, so thats sorted. I did need reverse gear when I put the car in the sand at the end of the straight and they towed me out backwards and unhooked me before I could say "errr, i dont have reverse, can you drop me over there?".. But 4th gear was lost first, then it moved to reverse so Im hoping its something loose in the selector I can just pluck out when I take a look at it!
