Tripping code 24 VSS

Hi guys,

Got a query, My senator seems to be tripping the VSS quite often lately. Only noticed it as i have been driving it a couple times without the laptop hooked up. By the looks of things its pulling a CEL just after changing into 4th gear when reaching 100kmh.
I have pulled a couple small skids and it will pull that code then aswell.
Doesnt seem to lock trans in 3rd or anything when on motorway but once ive come to a stop ill just turn off car and restart it then the CEL goes away.
What could be causing this sensor to keep tripping?
Thanks :)

if its not getting a speedo signal it will be going into 4th but it wont be locking the TCC which will cause higher revs than normal when cruising ....

you need to get a log and see if the speedo signal drops off when then happens ... but I would think if that's the case the dash speedo will stop working ?

what model is the car and what is the error code your getting ?

Still definatly have have speed signal. and tcc isstill locking in overdrive. i have had this also happen during a burnout engaging second gear, vss tripped sent speed lock of the scale then returned when wheels stopped spinning but threw the CEL

I will go for a log tommorrow to see what happends, check engine light is always on when logging but will reset ecu of codes before driving.
Car is a vt senator running a 355, high stalled shift kitted 4l60e. on the ones enhanced CJDN and A6C xdf

Error code is DTC 24. Vehicle speed sensor

It's a fairly common problem to have the VSS play up.

Mine has done it once or twice although it does it as soon as you start the car and it is almost un-drivable. Time for a new VSS for mine.

That's the weird thing though is that it drives pretty much the same. I've only seen in come on since I haven't had laptop hooked up.
It has done some strange stuff recently like tcc staying locked coming to a stop. But have never thought to check codes as CEL is always on when logging anyway.

the info I have for DTC 24 is:

No speed sensor pulses when engine between 2000-4000 rpm, throttle closed, high vacuum, not in neutral and all for 5 seconds.

hopefully that helps you narrow it down.

Thanks for that 202. that's something ill have a good think about. didn't manage to get a log today but will in the next couple

Also how would I go about creating a bit flag to turn off the DTC24 CEL as the XDF im using does not have a lot of options with flags :)

I would personally by trying to resolve the reason for it coming on in the first place :P

its either a faulty part or maybe the changes in your motor require some tweaking of other areas of the tune ?

It's probably the stall messing with its mind lol

I found I got the code 24 set because the tps sensor voltage was too low at closed throttle but only came on under the conditions mentioned by 202 .
The tps shaft adapter had gone missing
