can any one point me in the right direction for the correct adx file for my ute its 98 vs v8 series 3 auto but has the earlier map type motor not the later vt type maf and roller cam motor

You can treat it as a an early VS V8 as far as logging goes, which uses the same ADX as a VR. Use the VR $11 ADX here .. http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=29
