delco powerd falcon turbo
a little project I have been tinkering with for a while thought I would post up some info for anyone thinking of doing something similar...it is an au2 engine with a rather large t4 turbo with a home made steam pipe manifold and diy spool valve. it runs an 808 on 12p with 3bar map sensor (chinese $17 from ebay) holden ecotec throttle body vn coolant temp sensor and using the ford air temp sensor/map sensor for air temp only (map wire not connected as it was way out of range). I am running a d1998a dfi module with commodore coils using the ford crank angle sensor with all but the 7 teeth needed being cut off the reluctor wheel. it fired up real well with the blcd 6cyl bin and only needed the injector kinflow adjusted to run sweet. it is going into an EA for budget skid and drift as the mates have quite a few laying around

Re: delco powerd falcon turbo
this is the bin from startup with standard au injectors runs well but has not been tested in the car as the engine is still on the run stand I will update when it is in the car and ironed out but is a good starting point to get a stock falcon running the very first start was with a camira module with 3 teeth 120deg apart using reluctor wheel and crank angle sensor from the ford with 10deg refrence angle and a distributor but this 1 has the 60deg ref angle for the d1998a apart from that no other changes.

Nice work on that manifold. It's one of the better ones I've seen.

I'll 2nd that, a very tidy looking manifold indeed

Yeah thats pretty damn awesome for a budget build, can't wait to hear how it goes!
Re: delco powerd falcon turbo
about sums it up, lol, nice job though, interesting to see how it goes and power output.vlt304 wrote:it is going into an EA for budget skid and drift as the mates have quite a few laying around

Re: delco powerd falcon turbo
love it what turbo is it
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem
Re: delco powerd falcon turbo
turbo is an ebay gt45y2004k and will be turning the boost up until it pops to find the limit hoping for big hp but it is a ford so could go bang with out much effort aiming for 25psi as these engines have steel head gaskets and lots of block bracing. down side is weak conrods so will have to keep ping away. the au engine also has behive valve springs that look similar to ls1 installed high is only 20thou more or so the book says will have to get a spring off and look to see if they fit. I can get more engines from the scrap metal man up the road for $40 each condition unknown so they will be consumed haha.

Re: delco powerd falcon turbo
that was our plan for v6's just swap in another but we sold most of them when we couldnt pop one LOL.we have one of them turbo's here and were going to do the same wastegate spool valve on a v6 never got round to it smaller than a real gt45 so should work good they are more like a 4202

Re: delco powerd falcon turbo
it is almost spot on for a genuine gt4208 this 1 has a 1.05 ar exhaust and I can get boost with a free rev so the spool valve is doing its job well. I fired it up without the turbo on it and when you put air to the wastegate/spoolvalve it changes note quite a bit. it would be interesting to see on a commodore v6 diy variable vane turbo haha.
