Hi all, thought I better introduce myself before burdening the forum with dumb questions. I have a 265 Hemi that I want to convert to fuel injection and stumbled across this site when searching for posts on converting Holden V6 memcal for use on straight sixes. I got this idea from an engine tuner who said I could use the Memcal from a v6 holden and modify an early efi ford distributor to fit the 265. I like the idea of using factory stuff as it is relatively cheap when compared to after market stuff. I would also like to give it a crack myself as i find this very interesting. I have had a look at a few threads and can only just fathom what some of you are talking about, but I do understand the basics of efi and it's components so hopefully I can keep up. Cheers.

Welcome to the site mate there's no burden with questions here mate were all here to learn and play mate
With the conversion You don't even have to covert the dizzy the later model 265 came out with electronic ignition which uses the reluctor pickup in the dizzy so all you need to use is the dizzy with a camira ignition module and yes you can use the v6 memcal will need to change the base thing to suit the timing on the dizzy and tune it and also sort out a wiring loom from a v6 harness or a camira loom or v8 Holden loom which ever one is easiest to get hold of for you

Thanks Dazza, you have given me a base to start off. Yeah I heard the ELB distributor is suitable and you have explained why. Feels like I am getting closer already.
Probably need to get my head around this though 'yes you can use the v6 mental will need to change the base thing to suit the timing on the dizzy'
Cheers

That means you can use a V6 memcal (or any memcal 8 or 4 cylinder just needs a minor change to the netres)
In the tune you set the reference angle to suit your set up. I dont know the camira balue off hand.
Since it will need a full tine anyway. Get yourself a NVRAM set up from Antus along with a USB comms board.

Welcome heff0018

Sounds like a great project.
The spark reference angle Dylan mentioned is normally 10 degrees with a Camira type reluctor ignition module. It becomes the cranking advance, so is not a fixed 'must be 10 degree value' but rather a value that allows hot and cold starting. Just so long as the mechanical dizzy advance and the bin match your ok, for simplicity starting out its probably best to set the dizzy to 10 degrees advance and the bin to match.

Thanks VL400 and a turbo will add another dynamic to the project. At the moment I have a test motor (non turbo) which I will setup as a test mule and get running and then I know I have a working base to start from. I will be reading some more posts tonight and that will no doubt raise more questions. Cheers

holden202t's 202 conversion thread should give you a pretty good idea
