Holy cow your going to extremes there. As has been mentioned I would have tried increasing the air flow but it's done now. Question is why did Chrysler go to that bigger radiator. I don't ever recall problems with them overheating.

The job probably looks a lot harder than it actually is. I have had the front apart that many times that it is pretty easy now.
Not sure why they increased the radiator size but there must have been some reason for it. I just know that my CL Charger could idle at the lights with the air con on in 40 degree heat and the temp needle wouldn't move too much.
My main problem now is that the turbo is water cooled and its ok when the temp is below 30 but an extra 5 degrees of external heat takes it up close to boiling point if it sits at idle for too long.

So that being the case it's definitely air flow. Possibly 2 electric fans with a switch inside so you can turn them on whenever instead of waiting for the ECU to do it. I don't know if your got room at the front to blow the air through but my guess there's a big intercooler there.

Just noticed your plates. Your on classic rego and use std plates. We have to have a plate that stands out so we can be easily identified.

Yes we are pretty lucky in SA. I can't believe it actually got the historic rego but it was passed with the turbo and fuel injection under the modified scheme.Charlescrown wrote:Just noticed your plates. Bit of an update on the weekends work. Encouraging signs from the shed test, it was about 30 degrees today and when the thermo's fired up the temp gauge dropped very quickly but nothing like a test on the road. Its going to be hot here this week coming up and they are predicting 43 degrees on one day so I will take it out for a test at the high 30's first then might tempt fate on the 43 degree day.
Made this replacement piece for the passengers side radiator support panel.
The panel started to get a bit flappy as so much of it had been removed for the cold air intake so I made up an additional panel, put a bend in it like the factory edge I had cut out and drilled holes to plug weld it on.
This is the drivers side
Full airflow now.
10 inch fan to supplement the Ford thermos fan.

That is a bloody big radiator. Talk about overkill in the olden days.
