Tech advise wanted - is iPad the way to go?...

Hi all,

Am looking for advise on as to what to invest in for our work shop, looking for a portable (tablet maybe) type unit to be able to take diagrams and repair information to the job, also to be used for taking photos of cars for roadworthy documentation. In the future we'd like to go paperless and have electronic job cards (when some good software is developed that's affordable).

The iPad is an obvious option but am worried about not being able to use certain apps/software.

Has anyone got any thoughts on what to look at, or am I dreaming?

Cheers.

Got one of these a few weeks back .. http://www.asus.com/au/Notebooks_Ultrab ... _T100_Chi/

So far am liking it, and running full windows can install your tuning software on it. Screen is small to work with but is usable. TunerPro has an annoying bug in windows 8.1 .. http://forum.tunerpro.net/viewtopic.php?t=3402

Having been an android tablet user I do miss the play store and just chucking on programs, the windows app store is growing though.

The keyboard is bluetooth, so need to charge its battery every so often. And the lack of any full size ports mean an OTG adapter is needed. Otherwise for the $ its not bad, there are cheaper full windows tablets.

yeah I would avoid anything apple. Terribly limited if you want to do your own stuff and awful programing full of annoying bugs that you can't fix yourself and they dont fix, just try to make you buy a newer one. Service is terrible !! unreliable at the best of times.
