VY Dash - Noob question

Hi All,
have to admit I'm a new to all this, but do have some knowledge of Instrumentation. Process Instrument Technician by trade.
I have an aldl usb from Envyous Customs to clear a damn continuous fault coming up in my 2002 VY Wagon.
Happens every time I disconnect my battery. Twice recently from helping out a mate in dire need of a battery, so I let him borrow mine on twice.
Both times my dash came up with Check Engine Fault.

Now I know everything is ok, but suspect one issue, that I may have a faulty ECU, as it does not clear faults/store old faults and resets.
Have purchase the aldl to avoid the trip to the local mechanic and look like a fool each time I disconnect the battery.

I'm slowly reading and learning about the ecu from the guides on here.
Is there anything specific that coudl assist that anyone knows could assist in identifying if the ECU is corrupt, and or how to safely re-flash it?

As well I have lost the digital speed on the dash, I had Holden tech 2 my dash years ago, and I'm sure there must be a way for me to do it.
I dont want to pay holden to do it again, as they charge here where I live for everything they touch and they charge like wounded bulls.

Thanks in advance for any advice you guys can share. :)

What is the code that appears after you have had the battery disconnected?

yeah agree, need to know the code, it will give you 90% of the answer as to where to start looking for the fault.

if you have interface, you should be able to get the rest from here to connect to the car and view error codes at the very least.

Thanks guys, I'll disconnect and record the codes.
When I looked at the codes when the mechanic reset the ecu & when I reset it, it was a long list of codes.
Mechanic said damn near every fault possible.

Will post asap. Thanks for the heads up.
