Logging issue with HSV VT Stroker

Post by yoda69 »

Had an interesting one tonight that I had a quick look at, something I've never had happen before.
Vehicle is fitted with hsv security system, if you start logging before starting engine it won't start, assuming due to disable chatter upsetting the security, start vehicle then start logging and ok.
So far so good, then when you get on the loud pedal and it starts to boogey the engine stalls, wot at 3000+ rpm engine just stops. Did it on several occasions, disconnected logging and all good.
Should have tried Tazzi's ALDL program but forgot at the time.
Engine is torquey as and is maxing out the mgc on the logging just as it stalls, looks like time to move to The1's enhanced bins.

Still having problems with this car, basically breaks down and stops at ~4000rpm under load, not sure if maybe module, distributor, coil or possibly even ECU. Appears that ECU actually does some form of reset as it knocks out COMs at the same time, fuelling appears ok and have had to reduce spark to about 13 degrees to stop it knocking. Distributor is aftermarket so being replaced by genuine one.
Have tried logging with both tunerpro which causes car to stall, assume this is due to ESS and everything on aldl bus being told to shut up.
Logged with Tazzis program and just caused the vehicle to drop in and out like ecu resetting, same symptoms observed when driving and not logging.

I'd be suspect of that dizzy too.

ESS is part of the BCM isn't it?

I have a VS Senator with ESS and it seems like this is going to cause me issues when we get around to trying to log/tune it.

I have a spare BCM/key from our old Berlina to swap out if required?

wonder if its time to put a normal VT engine harness in it..... hoepfully get rid of more ESS crap that could be trying to immobilise parts of the engine.
