VR 5l Auto Bin

Post by IMA355 »

Hi guys

Waiting to get hold of antus about an NVRAM chip for the car. In the meantime here is the current bin from the car.
I bought a custom tune a while ago. Seemed to work pretty well, but now the car is a T56 manual instead of a auto and seems to be running rich.
Wondering if someone could look over the tune and tell me what I need to change to disable the flags/DTC's for the auto and correct the speedo as the auto has a 40 tooth reluctor and the T56 has a 17tooth reluctor

Also need to set the thermo fans up and would like to use the torque converter lockup to control the reverse lockout switch.

all help and advice would be appreciated :)

for starters, you can correct the PPK and get the speedo right on your laptop, but that wont help your real speedo! its a fixed divide function that you cannot change in the tune, to convert from the sine wave 17 tooth back to the square wave that the dash needs. you will have to buy a speedo corrector and install it!.

Could be worth looking into getting one of Festys's units snd running an 808 ecu.

i have a Dakota digital SGI-5 unit will that do?
so do I wire that into the signal going into the ECU or into the output of the ECU into the dash? hope that makes sense lol
would prefer not to change ECU's as I was hoping to keep the security features. is there much difference between an 808 and a 424?

The cluster wont change anything. The SGI 5 will be able to correct your speedo by wiring it in after the ecu.
Or if you went to an 808 it can change it from reluctor to hall effect as well as pulse correction.
Any engine mods? Exhaust?

oh well that's a massive pain in the ass lol
guess I have some work to do this weekend haha.
it got thermo fans pacemaker PH5002 competition headers ( only got the 5002's coz they fit with the T56 better, probably overkill for a stock 5L) twin 2/12 inch into single 3" with dual cats. Pretty much stock otherwise.

would be nearly 18 months ago now
he said when I bought it he offered free retunes, but then I talked to him after I installed the T56 and he wanted me to pay another 220 bucks.
no big deal I wouldn't really expect him to work for free but id rather spend that on a chip that gives me some flexibility in the future coz I don't wanna be constantly buying retunes lol

When you get the NVRAM you will need to change code base. That will be to $11P. So any mods compared to standard will need to be copied on the 11P base tune.
Not a big job but will keep you busy until then. Also interested in getting a wide band? That will help get the fuel dialled in spot on!
