Hi All,
Long time lurker, I need some recommendations on a tune. Am currently building a bash car for a charity event next year.
Car is a VK wagon with a VP 5L 5 Speed in it and would like to know what thoughts you guys have on a tune.
Bash runs from Adelaide to Hamilton Island next year but the back way, so is a given will come across some rather crappy fuel along the way.
Not shooting for performance, but defiantly after reliability.
Let me know what your thoughts are.

If it's a stock motor maybe be best just to run a stock tune could go with 12P and run the HSV VE and spark with a knock sensor as well to be safe. Maybe even set the fan temps up and run some thermos? Maybe even a manual over ride as well.

We're pretty sure the motor is stock, but wont really know until it gets pulled down a bit. Am not against running a knock sensor, will just be a case of tracking one down. Donor car has thermo's so the manual override isn't a bad idea. Just trying to keep the budget under control as the build is costing enough as it is since that pretty much has to come out of our own pockets and not sponsorship like the entry to the event.

Best bet could be a VR tune with lean cruise and fans set up. Bit better fuel economy won't hurt on the long trip.
Do you have your own chip burning gear?

Unfortunately not, last time I played with EEPROM's was when I was in uni 15 years ago. Life has taken me down the Sys Admin path more so than the elec engineering way.

If you want something done feel free to PM me. In saying that a stock VN chip will do the job.
But gains can be had.
