Hi all,
ive been building a street stock speedway car and i have come to a problem, it says:
1. E.F.I. is permitted to use with the following restrictions.
a) SSA Inc. approved and sealed ECU. All computers are to be sealed by Automotive Service Solutions only.
All Commodore computers sealed after the 1st July 2015 to be sealed with an ATFY memcal only.
b) Engines to be limited up to VY Commodore Ecotec and up to AU Falcon, no variable cam timing (VCT).
 All Commodore engines after VP are to use VN / VP computer, DFI module and coil packs.

so my problem is running a vn/vp computer. My theroy is as follows:
i will buy a vn ecu and wiring loom and i will run my vx loom to the vn ecu then using a wiring diagram connect my vx loom to the vn plug.
im fully open to any other suggestions!

I believe you will need to run a VN/VP loom as the VX ecotec loom is set up for full sequential injection which the 808 (VN ecu) isn't capable off.

Biggvl will be able to tell you exactly what you need to do

Yeah, thats right, you are going to need a VN-VP loom.

How serious are you getting? from what I've seen the VN runs too much spark advance for the ecotech, you could fix this with a different camshaft or by altering the balancer...

Not sure about that last rule - all coil packs and DFI's are the same VN2 - VY...

yeah i know what u guys mean its stupid. The class is ASCF Street Stocks.
Also to the question im allowed to run a camshaft so it will be something along the lines of a 206/210@.50 472/472" cam like something crow cams make. Just something mild as we cant tune or raise the rev limiter at all. my my answer is yeah i would be running a bigger cam as we cant really do anything else internally.

about coil packs im also as far as i know they all are the same thoughout too.

So i guess im going to need to run my ecotec with a vn loom too then, next question has to be.. im not going to need a speed sensor or anything but will need a tacho. So will i need to find both a VN manual computer and loom or will an auto? im not 100% sure on how the older style set ups are.

i picked to run an ecotec because ive been around them a bit so this has just turned everything upside down

yeah be careful with a cam.... its beyond stupid what those rules are.... they are essentially limiting your power by making the car lean and running too much timing...

when you add a cam, the fuel problem is made worse, it will overfuel at idle, as the VN map has too much fuel to suit a cam there, and it will be lean at WOT. lots of people who get a cam in your situation foul plugs a lot.
that being said, you will get more power from a cam, just be careful about how big you make it so you dont end up too lean.

Thats a perfect description of what they have done. we can see around 210 hp from some street stocks here in qld. A fair few people buy built motors from motor builders. I'm not even game to ask what a camshaft would be to buy from them builders.
