Idle Spark Adjustment
Re: Idle Spark Adjustment
Funny it's taking timing out but the rpm is below the target. It says closed loop idle set but wonder if it could be reading from the main table as its values are lower in those cells compared to the idle table and the main table almost lines up with what's being commanded.

Re: Idle Spark Adjustment
Havnt looked at the log, but idle spark operates both above and below target by adding or removing advance. The maximum adjustment amount is really a plus and minus value.

Re: Idle Spark Adjustment
unless I have something turned off or on that should be on or off,it seems that it only removes timing advance to smooth idle

Re: Idle Spark Adjustment
It looks like timing is adding and subtracting in the logs? If you have 25deg in the idle advance table its going above and below that.
With no IAC then your never going to have the idle at target RPM. So in your case it will just be used to stabilise the idle speed at whatever RPM its at. The idle spark just looks at the RPM variation and tries to compensate with spark advance to keep it steady. You will still get timing added and removed though.
With an IAC the steps would work to trim it closer to target, idle spark then tries to keep it right at target by adding an removing timing.
