Totally agree with this. E85 on a mild NA motor is going to net only a small % increase in overall power.

E85 is also very hygroscopic, needs to be kept full in the tank to prevent watering down, more work required for little gain. In a race car though its

Smell great also :D

I don't know how true this is but aperently in winter (in Victoria) anyway they drop the ethonal down to 70% so cars start easier ?

yeah that's right, and that's why people say to go with united as they don't change the ratio at all ....

honestly how well I can get straight methanol to start with efi I don't see why you'd need to dilute E85 in winter?

Newcastle is normally low-mid teens in winter to single digits at night.

yeah about 2-3 DegC is the lowest I've seen in tenambit, a bit more inland than Newcastle....

we used to get methanol from a truck company that ships it in on return empty loads (ELF brand), but we are getting it from power plus fuels now, they deliver to us :D and hes a racer at Gunnedah so happy to support a fellow racer!

don't get me wrong, methanol will crank for 5 seconds before firing, but its WAAAAY worse than E85 when cold, every time I've used E85 (usually just when not racing for a while as I can get it from the bowser) it honestly starts like petrol in winter!

mostly its about getting the cranking fuel numbers right, and probably helps having a good atomizing injector .... but spend the time on the crank tables and you can work wonders on alchi!
