It might be a relay problem, that's a good possibility considering what I've already replaced. I'll have some time on Friday to chase it up. I'll try to borrow a fuel pressure tester too.

Maybe I have the wrong iac if there are different types? It certainly made a difference when I changed it. The one in it was pretty dirty, and so was the one I replaced it with. I wiped it with a rag and some degreaser.

I just thought I'd update this. I found a stock vs s3 engine loom and compared looms. I spent a few minutes comparing the looms before I swapped them over, and there were a couple of minor differences between what I'd done and the factory loom. The vs s3 auto diagram on this site isn't entirely correct when comparing to the original loom, but it's close to correct.

I swapped the looms over approx 6 months ago and it's been running perfectly ever since.
