Does anyone know where i can get one of these. Pulse adjuster and hand controller. The hand controller is discontinued but they still make the pulse adjuster. The stupid thing is u need the hand controller to adjust the settings in the pulse adjuster.

The Jaycar kit is of the silicon chip project. See http://www.siliconchip.com.au/Issue/200 ... e+Adjuster and the next item in the menu on the left hand side.
You should be able to buy that article and/or they have the source code down the bottom left for $3. If you have the tools you'd be able to set it up before flashing the MCU, negating the need for the hand controller. Or else, look at the protocol in the source use a PC serial terminal to talk to it. I'd hazard a guess and say it'd be a simple text based protocol and the reason they dont have the hand controler is because you dont need it.

I was curious how this device works so I spent the $3 from silicon chip to get the source code. It looks like all the logic is in the main board, which appears to contain 2 PIC processors. There looks to be a shared eeprom in the device and one pic drives the hand controller and updates the eeprom, and the other pic provides the output. This would explain why the cable between the two has so many pins. I think the buttons and the display are wired to and driven from the main device which is running the show. Buttons and an lcd in a box. Depending on the quality of the docs provided it probably wouldnt be to hard to connect an off the shelf couple of buttons and display to the main device if you cant get the controller kit. But it looks like serial comms from a PC is out.

That one you post looks decent.

Heres a pic of the board in the first one, which shows the guts a bit clearer. I cant tell if there are 2 pics in there or not, maybe not... that IC in the socket at the front could have a microchip logo on it but it looks different to the one at the back which definately is a pic.
