Because it's there - no other reason! I thought it was an 808 until I popped the cover off.
Looking at the pinout, it looks like converting one of these Corsas to run 808/12P would be dead simple.

I reckon the 1999 lanos daewoo ecm is an interesting beast (service number TG6411D191020531). It still has a memcal, and smells much like improved 808. The car runs coilpacks. The case is the 808 case, but the mount in the side drive side footwell is nicer. It actually has plastic that slides under the bits that stick out the side of the pcm and locate it, and although the locating mounts on the 808s never seemed to be used, they do clip straight in to the daewoo mounts. The whole ecu clips in length ways. We should use them in conversions with 808s at a minimum

The pcb spacer is nicer. The pins are the same style as the 808, but it has differing keyways so you cant just plug straight in to an 808 loom. I'd love to know more about these. Im sure it would be possible to make them do awesome things, but as we have 12p and (almost) 11p, its not worth spending the time. It would be good to collect as much info about them as we can, though (pin outs, signals etc).

My mate wrecked one of these the other day and asked if I wanted anything so I grabbed the ecu and some documentation about what it was. Unfortunately I didnt take a pic of the mount and he kept it for his project.

Made up an adapter, memcal looks like a 27c256. Heres the bin.

It disassembles fine, its definitely a good read of typical HC11 delco code.

Wonder how hard it would be to port $12P over to it

Given enough time it would be possible to disassemble the current bin and start adding in 12P code, but the code would be pretty different due to using a small memcal - the fuel and spark is handled on the '808 by a sort of co-processor.

Lots of free space in the bin though

New random discovery. The loom end IS the right colour and a direct fit in to a VR '424 PCM.
