Hello, first post here.

Are there any aftermarket j2534 VCM/VCI out there that is compatible with IDS other than the genuine rotunda VCMII?

After various searches I can't find a clear answer.

I would like to avoid buying a genuine Rotunda VCMII to keep compatibility across all makes and models if possible.

Thanks !

I would imagine the quality ones work, and the official interface should work with other tools also. I have used a mongoose gm with the gm software. It warns that its not tested then works fine with the exception of aldl protocol which is so old now mongoose decided not to implement it. The interface specs do not claim to support that protocol so thats fair i guess. I'd love to hear from anyone whos tried it, too.

I got IDS working with the Tactrix Openport via these instructions. You can probably do it with any J2534 dongle if you just use their DLL instead. Has to be an 0404 J2534 DLL

Hello All,

Has anyone managed to get this working, I have tried Rolls method, seem not to work.
Please confirm what ids was or to be used.

I have tried v86 v96 v10 still no luck.
Reason for this is that my VCM clone which is a vxdiag in the rotunda casing doesn't support PCM flashing.
FMP require a subscription.
Your assistance will be great.

Roll's for the record, i got a backup with PCMtech for the Territory, if I purchase the professional version, i should be able to reflash the car back and get it going?

Thanks mate, that's me in a nutshell..I go all in on everything and anything I do in life.
Hence I stay away from gambling either I would be a rich man or broke...
So I attempted again to flash the PCM with IDS and openport as I have a work around to revive the unit.
Has anyone successfully got it to work and using the shim32.dll
