With the air temp sensor in the air box it's going to be very different to in the manifold runner like VN-VS (and you have a VS tune)
I would be fitting the correct sensor to the manifold to start with.

And then if you are sticking with the VS 185 tune confirm everything suits the tune (same injectors as VS185? Does the VT engine run the same fuel pressure, or do you have to swap pressure regs?)

Some quick notes,
Fit the air temp sensor into the manifold
Give the MAP sensor it's own vac supply
Sounds best to fit a pre VT intake manifold like other's have done before.

Yes the VT cam is a different profile to the earlier motor's

Also with the high idle that's not uncommon when changing ECU or even removing the battery s the ECU goes through a idle learn procedure.

Thanks guys for the info
I must have a mixed bag of stuff running this motor.
I checked the receipts again and the motor is out of a VS series 3 VM block.
I had someone do the electrical side of the motor when it was installed as I didn't know much at the time about injection.
When I received the motor I got all the PCM, wiring etc... with it, I did sell off the MAF and PCM in the end
So at current I have ???

An early VS air box due to the sensor being in there
A VR throttle body with canister
A VS series 3 bunch of bananas inlet manifold with VR MAP
A VS series 3 Dizzy 4 wire
A VR ECU HSV 185kw tune
2 Wire O2 sensor
And I'm assuming an early VS wiring harness


What a mix :shock:
No wonder she isn't the best hahaha, in saying that she still has heaps of go, lights up the tires when you put the foot down in second

Anyhow I do understand it would require a dyno for a proper tune.
Its hard finding someone in Perth these days to do it for a reasonable price, getting expensive.

I was getting to the stage of putting in old 308 with a turbo pattern and 600 holley, then I thought....Naaa I'm having to much fun with the injection.
But the prices of these old motors these days is crazy.

I was under the impression the vt style 4 wire dizzy was not compatible with the earlier models due to signal style been different.

The signal is compatible if you can match up the wiring. The VT dissy has a extra signal for cylinder 1 for the ECU.

The vt heads have a much more efficient chamber design with a faster burn rate much like the ecotec heads compared to buick.both designed for a faster more complete burn for emissions reasons .gm did a lot of fast burn heads on the state's too on there v8 stuff they have a way different timing requirement to the normal heads.they employ a lot of swirl and Tumble and quench pad shapes .also tricks like the angle of the chamber walls that act as an extension of the top valve seat angle to help the air stick and keep flowing to the edges of the cylinders
