I apologize if I should not be adding to this post...

I'm also using v21 with the same issue using a VCX NANO interface (with the latest firmware downloaded to the VCX Nano) & I'm getting the same "Failed to upload kernel to ECM" error when trying to Read Entire ECM.

Does anyone know if the VCX Nano is compatible? If the VCX Nano is known to work, does anyone see that I'm doing incorrectly?

That is the PCM refusing the Request for permission to upload!

There are several people using the VCX Nano and it is (maybe going to be was) a recommended VCI, but it seems lately there are issues with them.

Please use the 'Select Device' button to remove the check mark from the Enable 4x communications at the bottom of the Select Device dialog box, select Ok, then try: Read Entire PCM again.

Let us know please.

I re-selected the device with Enable 4x Comms deselected then I tried to read the PCM.
It appears to be still failing on uploading the kernel (Results & debug log below). I have a couple of these same PCMs & they both are behaving the same.

Gampy, please let me know if there is anything else that you would like for me to try (using the VCX NANO). If not, do you have an interface to recommend that has proven itself to work well?

Now, that I have the full information I can see this is a P04 PCM that is unrecognized by PCMHammer v021.

Please download this Github artifact #36:

Once downloaded, drag n drop it where you want to unzip it on the fly, adjust name accordingly in the Select Destination Dialog.

Open the folder, find PcmHammer.exe and double click on it ... This is a current TEST build!

The read seemed to go well.

I have a few of these P04's. Would it be helpful for me to try to push a binary to the PCM & send you the logs?

Slight correction, that was a download (or a read as we call it), not upload, upload is push it away from you, download is pull it towards you!

PcmHammer currently only supports reading (downloading) P04 PCM's not writing (uploading), we are currently working on writing to them!

And yes, Thank you for the complete logs, you are one of the few that has used the new Kernel to read a P04 publicly, it's not even released to the general population yet.
Although it is available to them ... It is a public project after all.

Reading the logs pointed out two things to me ... Nothing for you to worry about, it's for us that develop.
One, we have a typo ... Opps!

I have an extra P04 car in my small fleet and some extra of these P04 PCMs. During the month of May, I will have a lot of time & will be glad to do some testing for you if that would be helpful. What you & others do for this group is nothing less than extraordinary. Thanks for the education on the proper semantics: Download = Read (preferred term) / Upload = Write (Preferred term). A couple of short posts and I'm already learning from you.

I just hope I wasn't demeaning, sometimes (most of the time ) I come across that way and I don't mean to, ever!

If we have tests to be done we will post them ... We are always in need of testers, more the merrier.
Right now we do need all the different P04 reads we can get, different OsID's is what we need, if you want to post your bins that could help as well ...

But starting your own thread would be better, this really is a very old thread, we have made several releases since this thread.

I didn't take it that way at all, I really enjoy learning from guys like yourself. I'll start a new post now and start adding read logs + the Bins for the different OS-IDs on the P04's that I have. I'll be ready to start testing writes when your ready.
