Wondering if my best solution is to get the ALDL interface cable and a pcmhacking NVRAM with the vx l67 tune. At least I would know the software and lead are good and I can go from there.
Any thoughts?

good idea! PCMhacking hardware is well known to work properly. The alternatives out there are very hit and miss which most here would agree.

another option if someone has the bench setup for your PCM, send the pcm and tune, if it can be bench tested then you will at least know if its the wiring or the pcm .....

So I now have a NVRAM with enhanced tune and a pcmhacking aldl cable which will let me connect, but the engine won't start on the enhanced tune. Have spark but no injector pulse. Gives error code 31 (coms error). Have also got hold of another pcm and tried it with same result.
Anyone got any ideas?

I say vats(security) is still on. You will have to tick the box marked “theft deterrent” in the flags section and flash/ burn back onto the nvram.

Theft deterrent is off. I don't get the coms error until drank it over though.
