Flash chips on Hardware numbers

They go by many names, P01, P59, VPW, '0411 etc. Also covering E38 and newer here.

Flash chips on Hardware numbers

Post by Gampy »

Hi all,

If anyone has the following hardware I sure would appreciate the Flash Chip ID.

Hardware .. Serv. No.
12583660 . 12586242 .. 2004 GMC Sierra 2500
12589161 . 12602801 .. 2006 Chevrolet Express 3500
16220610 . 9354896 ... 1999 GMC Sierra 1500

I want to assume 12583660, 12589161 are Amd (00012258).
And 16220610 is Intel (00894471).

But I don't take to assuming much and would like confirmation ...

Thank you

I have a PCM out of a 2004 Tahoe that matches the numbers for your 2004 Sierra 2500 but it's a 5.3 flex fuel. I'm starting to reload the original tune to my first PCM with PCM Hammer per your PM. Hopefully it'll be done by morning then I can do a quick compare and get you some Chip IDs.
Available tools:
VCX Nano GM wifi (VXDIAG NANO-PLUS-V1.2 2020.10) (STM32F407 VTG6 ARM brand processor)
VAS 6154 Clone (VW6154-V1.0 1850) Looks like the VCX Nano but not as complicated.
Mongoose ISO/CAN
VAGcom HEX+CAN (HC8198369 Rev. B)

Yes, that 2004 Tahoe Pcm is a hardware match (12583660) and would confirm the flash chip ID on that hardware.

However, it sounds like PcmHammer and your tool don't like each other much thus making it a hassle, don't sweat it, they'll get confirmed in time.
I pretty much expect that hardware (12583660) to be AMD Chipped, but not yet confirmed.

Thank you

Almost all the P59s are AMD, it might be best to get a list of which P59s have the intel (some of the early ones only), then the rest of the P59s will be AMD, and all the P01s Intel.

Why do you need the flash chip ID - does it make a difference? Or are you just trying to avoid 1mb Intels?
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

Shit in, Shit out ... A database is only as good as the input data.

Thus, I do have an Intel list, or an AMD list or any other list one would want from such collected data. ;)

And I am very well aware of that approximate P59 Intel/Amd line, I would like to see it in empirical data!
Then it is no longer an approximation, it is fact by hardware number.

As for the P01's, yea ok, that was probably stupid. o-wells!

Peter, Thank you.

That confirms hw 125 83 660 is Amd chipped in my book.

That leaves one hardware number in my book that is unconfirmed, 125 89 161.
The dataset I have is from a 2006 Express, Yes, it's probably very safe to ASSUME it's AMD ... Y'all can assume if you want, I will not!

Sooner or later the right person will come along and it'll be trustfully confirmed, until then, it's unconfirmed in my book.
