P01 to P59 swap possible?

I have a 2001 Yukon XL Denali with a 6.0L with a hole in the block. I bought it this way and I was planning on swapping in a 5.3L from a 2004 Tahoe.

After looking at both of them, the 01 has an EGR valve and the 04 doesn't. The PCMs are different with the 01 being a P01 and the 04 being a P59. Is there any issue swapping from one engine and PCM combo to the other? The transmissions were both automatics but the 04 was only RWD and the Yukon is 4wd.

I noticed that the P01 has red and blue connectors and the P59 has green and blue.

Either way the engine is getting being removed today and the 04 is getting shoved in there this week. I'll figure it out one way or the other. Any help would be appreciated.
I don't plan on running E85 at any point and it will be disabled in the PCM to keep it from looking for the fuel sensor as it will be missing.

Here are the Bin files for both PCMs. I have the gas pedal and TAC module from the swap engine also.

It's possible and there are some write-ups out there. It's not a direct swap, but the number of pins that need to be changed is pretty small.

I intend to upgrade my car from a P01 to a P59 at some point, and it's my understanding that the only changes my car will need are in the O2 sensor wiring. I saw a web page a while back with the specific pin changes but didn't take notes... Been meaning to find it again and double-check all the info.

Automatics might need additional changes, but I haven't looked into that myself.

I don't know why I didn't think of it before. Could I just flash it to think it's a 2001 Yukon 5.3 and leave the original PCM in place? I'm assuming the EGR could be tuned out of it as the engine going in doesn't have the extra parts for it and it's one less thing to go bad without it.

That's good news. I'll try and find a matching bin file for what I have to start with. 5.3L 4x4 with EGR and DBW. I can adjust from there.

I suspect you'll want this Os 12216125 from a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe 1500 4WD Automatic M30 4L60E 5.3L L59

Sure would be nice if the XDF got unlocked for the spirit of community.

i can edit anything you need in the file and send it back to you, use your original throttle body, I do engine swaps and custom cars all the time. Ive got any file you might need.

I think you will also need to swap a set of blue/green connector covers over to your existing wiring harness to fit into the P59 PCM. There is a set of notches that will need to complied with to make this work or I suppose you could Dremel tool the offending parts away to make it work. I think you might have already figured this out but I just noticed this recently with my junk yard lab rat P59.
