Hi boys
before i choose a direction
So engine in and running but 4l60 refuses to shift im fairly sure this is the whole speedo signal issue
its a 5 liter and an early 4l60 in a HQ running 11p tune with vats disabled currently.
i was wondering what the easiest way for the transmission to function reference the speedo signal if there is a trick
or something you buy
i cant find a lot of information in any direction and im sure im not the first one
thanks in advance

A 4L60 should shift without a speedo sensor, it would probably only effect the TCC lock up at most.
Sounds like it's either low on fluid or has failed which is not uncommon for these, they only last 200k in my experience. I had the same issue with my last one, was stuck in 1st, the box was totally stuffed.

thanks for your reply
it was running in the doner statesman before we pulled it
i guess we could have killed a shift solenoid
i have seen 4l60s in vt stay in limp mode from no speedo maybe this is just the newer models
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

So to get things clear, is this a 4l60 or a 4l60e?
The Wiring for the speed sensor on the 4l60e gas two wires that go straight from the sensor to the pcm, so unless you have pulled all the harness apart I say it’s might not be your problem. There is a pink/blue wire in one of the two plugs that are in the engine bay and if this does not have 12+ you will not have any power to the trans. This is normally accompanied by a third gear start.

Pink blue trace comes out of the harness that comes up from auto...tap it into a fused accessory & should be right to go.
When you check for fault codes it will come up...so to will cel & it will be in limp mode
