Figured its best to write this down to help others!

I use the nano for alot of commercial products, recently they had their passthru license expire on all VCX nano products on the 31st Dec 2020.

This error doesnt display when using the J2534 tool in software, it just says it fails to connect to the protocol and does not work.

Quick and easy fix, just update to the latest firmware v1.8

I don't have 1 of these but seems to be a pretty popular tool & might be handy to have as a spare.

Where's the best place to buy them I see on eBay they have them locally sourced from $80 but guessing they're a clone & can't be updated.

yeh i use one as my main J2534 cable, the DLL was coming up with a license error for me when connecting via other programs but yeh as above just updated the program and reflashed the firmware and updated license and now all good. I just got mine of aliexpress and it's been fine, license valid till 2030.

It looks like they have 3 separate devices, 1 for vw/audi, 1 for Toyota & other for gm?

yeh that's pretty much, if you get the GM one it'l work with tech2win and GDS and you can also use it as a normal J2534 cable with other software.
