Tried with the clip on with a gq-4x and an old willem but couldn't get a read.

Although didn't have it powered up and at the time didn't know the pinout,

Was a case of we need this thing out of the workshop and it won't run when I started looking into these, went with what worked once I figured it out and saw that familiar lil eeprom..

Interesting, just tried a:
#92180 129, SW 280705D, HW 12, 2006
#92104 411, SW 070704B, HW 10, 2005
Couldn't read either on board, just FF FF (for s&g's tried powering up also with same result)

Mines a 92189 621 sw 2811058 I think, I'll have to check but I think I used a generic profile to read the chip. Your connection maybe not good either it can be tricky.

Yeah, know those clips can be dicky.
Tried pushing, scrapping, clamping the chip and clip and even holding my tongue on funny angles to no avail.

Well that was fun, found 1 module that had different chip markings in the pile that were more useful.

The brains of the unit is a NEC µPD780828A 8-bit Single-Chip Microcontroller

NEC IRELEAND 780828AGCxxx which would appear to have an internal mask rom
NEC JAPAN D78F0828A(A) hoping is µPD78F0828AGC(A)-8BT with internal flash memory (the uncommon module).

i havn't messed with PIMs much, the one i have here is dead so i need to get another one, not sure but BCM's you can get the pin code via the normal aldl table request for VR-VZ, will have to try with a pim and see what the tables contain. I havn't read about anyone trying yet.

Was wondering if it got the right query, if it'd spit out the prom address contents like it does for the vin, it can't be that easy......

Probably got a spare floating about I can send if you can't find one.

Dug out the olde NEC programmer trying to get something but no luck yet.

if you fire up ose flashtool and configure it, dont need to connect, just goto tools, Listen to chatter and send aldl, tick auto calc checksum, paste the below in, F1 is for BCM on VR-VZ, i dont actually know what the Module ID the pim has on a ALDL bus(Tazzi may know?), the 01 on the end is the table number, there could be 20 tables who knows. Then you just send the command and see what reply comes back.

I'll have a sniff when I get my hands on a vz, swore i'd never own an alloytec.... but for r&d purposes i guess they're cheap enough these days.

Get nothing out of the NEC programmer, looking at the data sheet need to do some harder yards (or simpler few wire fun) to access the rom/flash.

I must be a collector or insane, just ran through I have vl, vg, vn, vp, vr, vs, vt, vx and vy parked in the yard.. and multiple of some models... gawd help me..... do I really need a vz...... gotta catchem all right?
