VP V6 Knock Sensor Removal

Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone can help with the timing/ knock side of a VP V6 running a $5d 2bar. I was given a base tune from a fellow tuner, and I think he mentioned the knock detect was disabled in the tune. However, it seems like no matter how much timing I put in, I can’t hear knock/ping.
Questions
1. How can I tell if the knock sensing in my tune has been disabled?
2. Does is there a physical mod that needs to follow, knock board removal?
Any tips would be great.

dissconnect the knock sensor if the engine light comes on its most likely not disabled .not running one is a silly idea

May just have the max retard set to 0 deg.
How much timing are you adding?

I think its sitting on high 20's to 30 on full revs, on boost, which I think is too much, the reaso for my queston
If the engine detects knock, what does it do from there. Does it retard a standard degree, for example 30deg-15deg, or does it revert back to a base ignition timing of 0deg?

It uses the knock attack rate to pull timing based on how much knock it see's - more counts = a larger chunk of advance removed. It only pulls timing up to the max retard setting. Once the knock clears the knock recovery rate determines how quickly the spark advance is returned.

So looking at the Tables,
F6: ESC Attack rate (deg/ms) vs RPM
Is this the value that the timing is reduced after a knock?
F7: ESC Percentage recovery rate (%/second) vs RPM
Is this the rate at which the timing advance is re introduced?

Yep
There is some info in this post too ..

The deg/ms term is mentioned by fabmec (16 counts = approx 1mS). As an example you got 32 knock counts and have it set to 2deg/ms (forgetting about the RPM part of the table for now to make it simpler) it would pull out 4 deg of spark.

LOL.. yes yes, I have brought it back down. Just left it at a more safe level, will have to fine tune it on the track. It seems nice and crisp, a slight bit of a hesitation in 2nd-3rd gear torque pickup, but still imepressive. I can't tell the bloody difference on the street any more, too much wheelspin.
I gues thats one of the better issues I've had!
