Nice pics! Did you decap a P12 cpu and put it under a microscope with digital capture? Best i've seen to date!

I got a hit on cerberus in this NXP document https://www.nxp.com/docs/en/application-note/AN1791.pdf

So Im going to say maybe its a MPBF375BGA or at least a related family.

If its anything to do with a GM PCM from 1999 or the next 6 or so years after it, then that also makes it likely to be something in the 68 family.

Good morning Antus. Ironically this chip is from the first P12 that I was testing and got soft bricked that came from a 2006 GMC Envoy. I actually have pulled many flip-chips from the P12, but this appears to be the most complex in the unit by far, at least from it's appearance. I didn't think that I was the CPU though only because of that huge CPU style looking chip on the P12 next to the flash chip.

I also pulled almost all the chips from the P10 as well and I think I found it's CPU, however I am in the same boat with identifying those chips as well.

You might find the bigger chip is all I/O and peripherals. I think this is the CPU.

Actually I just noticed "68F375" is also written right there under cerberos, and its a BGA package so that lines up too. If its not the main cpu, its a coprocessor of some type. maybe its this slave cpu.

Interesting. I am still on the hunt for the IDs of the other chips as well. I haven't been able to find a good site that can find most of the numbers I got.

a lot of it is semi custom silicon, so the numbers on the packages are GM proprietry and not public, though in reality the customisation over vendor reference designs appear to be small if any. but without doing what your doing here and being able to ID from the inside its mostly guesswork. luckily for what we are doing we dont need to know all the details, just have a pretty good idea of the family. this is actually the first time ive seen a googleable cpu part in any gm ecm, but ive been looking on the outside!

I appreciate you finding this for me. After reading some of the material I am pretty certain that we can confirm this is definitely the CPU in the P12. There is a lot of talk in there about memory addressing and commands. Would any of this help understand how to read and program the PCM better?

Maybe this is the main or secondary/DBW one? I believe there are 2 chips that are really CPUs in the P12 (and P10). The main and secondary, with secondary being the DBW/electronic throttle controller. Both are in the PCM, similar to how all Gen IV+ ECMs do DBW.

Okay, now I am going back to my origional thought. This must be the secondary, because I decided to take that larger chip and strip the resin surface off and then I got pics under my microscope and this other chip is way more complex than this chip. The actual chip fragmented on me but I have enough of it to see the name and model. I will post pics.

Here is the chip that I am going to say has to me the main CPU as it is by far more complex than the first chip. Now I just have to find a data sheet on it.
