Re: Converting 202 to DIS
is actual Engine TDC the mark to the right of the 300 ? if it is that should be pretty close with the longer slots you have!
you should be able to crank the engine over with no plugs installed and a timing light on it and see where the static timing is before you even try to fire it .....

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: Converting 202 to DIS
Just the record I had a timing light on mine over the weekend, and I noticed I couldn't get the light to trigger on Cyl 1, but only when I put it across the the lead on the other side of the coil pack as the wasted spark.

Re: Converting 202 to DIS
The motor in the picture was at TDC when the picture was taken. The longer slots allowed me to slide the wheel to line up as shown. I've recently installed the motor and confirmed oil pressure, next is confirm spark then fuel and hopefully broom broom.

Re: Converting 202 to DIS
Is there a table in tunerpro that I can look at to confirm that I'm picking up a crank signal from the CAS?.
I'm turning the motor over and getting no spark at the plugs or any rpm while connected to tunerpro.

just your RPM is that, and bypass defines if the module or the ecm is controlling spark, eg you can still see rpm even when cranking and the module is generating spark.

So if I'm getting zero rpm while cranking then I'm not getting a signal from the cas?antus wrote:just your RPM is that, and bypass defines if the module or the ecm is controlling spark, eg you can still see rpm even when cranking and the module is generating spark.

Re: Converting 202 to DIS
I have spark. Turns out I had the pick-up too far from the wheel. I tested by turning the ignition on and manually triggering the sensor with an allan key. Sparked across the coils. Re installed and now have spark, but still zero rpm showing on the dash in tunerpro

Yeah. Ive just been through similar on my car. Trigger problems can present like this. Because the signal is going to both the internal spark generator and the ecm, you can have one or the other not working. It sounds like the spark generator in the module is working, but the signal isnt strong enough for the ecu. You need to revisit the sensor / spacing or wiring from module back to the ecm. In my case it turned out to be hand drilled mounts on the trigger were slightly out, and I couldnt solve it by hand and had to get a new trigger this time witih the mounting holes electronically cut in the perfect location to work.
Obviously not a 202 but this is what worked for me in the end.
This is 4 cyl with the +1 ref at 70 degrees ATDC.

Re: Converting 202 to DIS
Are any of the other gauges working on the dash in Tunerpro, mainly the MAP and Injector Duty Cycle while your cranking the engine?
I was testing the ignition on my car (no fuel pump relay) and you should get a output similar to this.
If you are seeing the MAP and Injector Duty Cycle in the dash or on the monitor, then i would suggest checking the wiring between the ECM and the Module Connector.
ECM 6 Pin connector
D5 -------- A
D4 -------- B
B5 -------- E
B3 -------- F
