this is using a vcx nano on a 2004 pontiac grand am gt i cant seem to get it to write a bin file out of this 3400 gm motor. This is while the pcm is in the car,,,does pcm hammer need to be used on a bench only? i know when i was tuning my Volvo 850 it had to be put in the boot mode. that was a very long time ago and I can't remember all the details but I didn't use PC hammer with the volvo.

Pretty sure that is a P04, the P04 is not fully supported ...

That OsID (12584933) is currently unknown to PCMHammer.

I gave it a shot because someone recommended to, I figured it wouldn't work. i've read a bunch of your posts and you're talking about 3.4 you said that you had a 2005 Grand am GT And so I grabbed the bin from that post. i'm pretty much completely new to tuning so I'd really need some answers if you don't mind. What did you use to get the bin file? I'm now researching XDF files because I don't know where they come from And i'm not sure how to get them so like I said I'm completely new to this.

I have PM'd you a test version that has that OsID and 512 byte packets.

XDF Files MUST MATCH the OsID, incorrect XDF for OsID version will cause file corruption ...

As far as I know there aren't any XDFs for P04 pcms, you'll want to use Universal Patcher. You can find it here on pcmhacking.

Also, like Gampy said, PCM Hammer currently only has experimental read support on the P04, and no write support. You could probably post your errors to the P04 PCM Hammer thread to help further development, as there haven't been a whole lot of people trying out the test version(s).
Another option for tuning your Grand Am would be using the latest windows version of LS Droid - which has both read and write support for the P04, you can get it from the LS Droid facebook group, just look in the pinned/featured posts.

I'll try anything to get this bin and xdf...are you sure its a P04,,,i thought the gm 3400 v6 series was P06 or P08...idk i'm new to all of this. hopefully lsdroid works with the vcx nano. i have an older elm327 bluetooth,,,just not sure if its the one that's required. Can you give me a link to the P04 pcmhammer thread?

A Debug log would be much more beneficial ...

After the attempt.
From the File Menu,
Select: Save
Select: Debug Log

Then in your Documents Directory will be a PcmHammer_debugLog-<DateStamp>.txt file.
Please attach that log file.

On the PCM connectors, there are color codes in words, like CLEAR or BLACK what is on that PCM ??

All the help you need will be right here, no point in changing threads!

Thank you.

-Enjoy

Thank you!

Blue Clear and V6 = P04 ...

Edit:
Just to be 100% certain what I sent you works, I just tested it.
Unfortunately what works for me may not work for you in the P04 world.

Are you doing this In car or on the Bench ??
If in car, build a bench harness ... It's always safer.
