PCM Logger/ problem writing log file

They go by many names, P01, P59, VPW, '0411 etc. Also covering E38 and newer here.

PCM Logger/ problem writing log file

Post by Stokes1114 »

I have a p59 running boost os v4. I use pcm hammer v20 for reading, writing and logging and haven't ever had an issue. Over the last week everytime I try to log I get an error when I stop recording that says 'log writing halted, cannot write to a closed TextWriter.'
Not sure what would be causing this, any help is appreciated.

Edit: This is ALL wrong ... I have no clue what I was thinking! PCMLogger is fine in Programs (or?) and the Log is already saving to the users 'Documents' folder.

Sounds like a permissions problem where PCMLogger resides, the user needs to have full permissions to the PCMHammer directory.

This is something that is on my todo list, just haven't got there yet!

It should be in user space, meaning off the user directory tree ...
Type the following into the explorer bar in Windows Explorer (File manager) or Windows 10 search,
%userprofile%
That will show you the user profile directory tree on any Windows os ...

However, did this same install work previously and all of a sudden quit working ??
What version of Windows ??
Virus Software ??

You should also try a newer version of PCMHammer like this one: Check Build #86

Although the Logger has not changed since PCMHammer Release 21.
However, it did change between r20 and r21.

Thanks for the help... I have the new version you linked to installed in my user directory and still the same thing happens. Although I'm not certain how to make sure permissions are good?
It's windows 11 v10.0.22621 build 22621. Yes pcm hammer/Logger was working just fine on this PC, never a issue. I was only using version 20 because v21 didn't recognize boost os v4.

Is your Log Folder set to an appropriate directory ??
On the configuration tab, 'Set Log Folder' button ...

If it's set to a valid location in your user directory, then it has to be a Windows 11 issue specific, I do not have Windows 11 to diag on.
Normally permissions (Security) is accessed via Windows Explorer (File Manager), right click on the directory (folder), select Properties, then on the Security tab.
Might be an issue with Virus protection ...

If Boost OS was supported on r20, it should also be supported on r21 ... Unless bubba changed the OsID's, I know we have 76030003 through 76030009 for Boost Os.

This is news to me. Did Boost OS Include a private build of V20 with its OSID? What is its OSID? We can put it in the app for the next release.

I should clarify, it may have recognized it... But would come back saying that the bin and pcm file sizes did not match. I can duplicate it tomorrow and record the debug log.
I haven't tried to flash with the newest build Gampy posted, but will do that as well.

Here are the 2 debug logs. 21.2 is with the normal download off of Git. 21.x is the newest build that you posted Gampy.
21.x had no issues at all with writing. 21.2 shows incorrect file size?
Still not having any luck with the Logger. I've gone over everything I can think of.
