Hi id like to have a try of the boost OS available on here only problem is i have never come across the compatible OS here in New Zealand and iv tuned hundreds of LS engines i do about 3-4 a week. For me the P01 ecu is far more common then the P59 we get them in the VT-VY Holden Commodore and the common OS numbers i come across are OS 12225074 and OS 12202088. Is there a way to change these to OS 12212156 OS 12216125 that would be compatible with the boost OS patch. Also the common P59 OS i see is OS 12592433 in the VZ Holden Commodore that have the DBW LS1 can this be converted to OS 12587603. I have HP tuners, EFI Live, PCM hammer/tuner pro, Universal patcher.
Could i buy a ecu with correct OS read bin and clone it to another?
Is it possible to change the OS on a P01 or P59 ecu

You can change the OS on a P01 to another P01 OS, or a P59 OS to another P59 OS. But you cant swap a P01 OS on to a P59 or vice versa. In the case of the P59 you cant put an early intel chip only OS on an AMD P59 and have it fully working. But if this happens pcmhammer can still work with it and put an AMD capable OS back on it.
In NZ you would have P59s from 2005 model v8 commodores with OS 12592433 that you can put 12216125 with boostos on.

Get a bin with the OS you want and use pcmhammer to write entire (clone). This will change the PCM serial number and VIN on the PCM. No big deal just be aware of it. Always save your original bin first incase there is some data in there you find you need or want to come back to later.
There are some specific steps about how convert the OS to boostos and patch the OS, I think. You could attempt to do it all at once, or do the OS first to get familiar with the tools and prove its all still working then attempt to put a boost os modified bin on it.

12216125 is a P01 Os, it will not work on a P59.antus wrote:In NZ you would have P59s from 2005 model v8 commodores with OS 12592433 that you can put 12216125 with boostos on.

Sort of. The second one is a P59, you can tell at a glance because you know its for a VZ and its 1Mb in size. If you verify it in pcmhammer it'll say something about P01_P59 and 1Mbyte. Don't swap segments outright between different operating systems, rather find and load the most similar '7603 bin in that you can to start with. Look for at least a matching engine and transmission. If you cant find one that suits then you'll have to update any configuration that needs it yourself. Even if it does match, you might need to copy settings like pulses per km, and any number of other settings. Then when its running right and has no error codes, look in to the boost os patch. So long as you have the original P59 bin (is that it attached above?) then you can clone that back in to get back to your starting point if you get in to trouble.
