Hi Guys, Kinda new to messing with Holden PCM's I'm familiar with Toyota DENSO units mostly.

I've got a mate with a VY has no keys and ignition barrel broken as someone tried to knock it off a while back. I have got the engine turning over using the ignition but won't fire up. If fuel is sprayed thru intake it fires and backfires as expected. I dumped the info off the PCM and removed VATS and flashed back with the1's enhanced vy BIN but still does the same thing. Is it an issue with the PCM not getting the good to go from BCM or something else? I'm stumped cause it wants to start then just says nah can't be bothered try again later lol..

Still sounds like vats is enabled.
Can also do a log to check the 18x 3x and cam signal are all present!

Mate I wish I could but the only interface I have is a SM2PRO and I’m pretty sure that doesn’t understand ALDL lingo. I flashed it on bench. I was reading up on this forum page after page about how to communicate with the PCM and I thought to myself got no interface but I do have a little serial-usb adapter so found the pinout write up on here and I was stuck thinking ALDL is on wire yet serial has tx-rx so I thought oh well stuff it I’ll join them together to the ALDL pin and it got no connection I was like damn but then I thought thought the adapter has the live+ probably stick the ground- on it too and bingo there was connection and communication. Wish it was that easy with my R8’s E38 lol.

I’ll attach the bin dump in a minute when I jump on the computer. The flash files I used was the1’s enhanced VY V6 Enhanced Auto (it is an Auto) Bin, XDF and ADX. I probably went wrong somewhere but I guess that’s how you Learn.

First flash car turned over for like 2 seconds then stoppped, 2nd flash car turned over the whole time fired on a cyl once kinda but kept cranking.

1st - I read the ECU. I done Get Cal, Get BIN, Get EEPROM. (Twice to make sure)
2nd - Downloaded The1's Enhanced VY V6 Auto BIN but i think the XDF was from another upload on here in custom bins same name just different numbers on the end like it was a different edit there was VY V6 Auto $060 2.2 and another with 2.32
3- probably an error by me although it had no dramas, I only did write cal until 2 minutes later I read ya gotta do whole BIN 1st time so I connected again and flashed whole bin. Said yes to fix checksum and no to write EEPROM. Tried the car no start cranked for 2-3 sec then stopped.
3. Re flashed with The1's Enhanced Bin and using the XDF and ADX that was with it. Tried car it cranked like it should but no joy in the combustion chambers. ( I forgot to mention i set VATS to off also)

Thats about it for yesterday. I've attached files i used and the original dump

I know this sounds like a simple fix. But with all your playing around there is the possibility that the spark plugs may have become wet and shorting out your spark plugs.

Pull a few spark out and see what they look like.
