d1998a dfi module or v6 rodeo module

Hey so does anyone have a picture of what the module from the v6 rodeo even looks like? I think I have one but I can't find a part number on it and I'm not sure what it looks like. Or a d1998a module they are willing to sell or best place to get one from other then Amazon etc

Also side question. Has anyone used to the holden dfi module to fire another type of coil or COP with a built in ignitor before? Is it even possible?

Have a look at this thread: viewtopic.php?t=128

In particular this post shows the module without the 3 coils on it:
viewtopic.php?p=8413#p8413

The longer of the two in the post, with 3 pairs of pins for the 3 coils to sit on, and 2 connectors on one end, 1 on the other. Its very similar looking to the commodore one on the outside, but the connectors are completely different.

They are not suitable to fire a different coil with built in ignitor without some kind of additional interface between the two. A couple have been made over the years, but I think they did not sell well and believe are no longer available. The most recent one was here: viewtopic.php?p=119577

Okay I must have the later model one that's fine at least I definitely know now. The big plug I can buy and the 3 pin a later eco cam sensor plug is used I'm pretty sure.

Okay what about a different type of dumb coil with no ignitor 7mge etc ?

I think dumb coils would work, but you wont have programmable dwell so it'll need to be compatible with what it gets. And you just have those pins in the base to connect on to, so its possible but it wont look pretty.

Yeah okay so maybe an option but maybe similar effort to a another module and cop.

So I just printed off all the diagrams I think I'll need and noticed the d1998a module uses a 2 wire CAS not the 3 wire CAS like on the commodore. That's going to make things tricky unless it works with the 3 wire too

So upon further looking. There is heaps of VR to hall signal converters around but just about nothing on going the other way. I've found some things but that's above my knowledge base.

Has anyone here even heard of taking a hall output signal and converting it back to vr

Spent some more time on this today. Got everything sorted except for the CAS. I tried using the ABS sensor off the car but unfortunately it had had 5Mohms internal resistance for some reason. the pick up worked but only at very small voltage so I'm guessing the DIS wasn't happy with that as no rpm recorded.
Think I might head down to the wreckers and see what I can find that will fit in the small space I got to work with. What's the best resistance to use?? 1k to 2k ohms? If there is a Jackaroo there ill measure what resistance the stock CAS is and go from there.

Ive only ever used VT/VY ABS sensors on a trigger wheel on the front outside of the engine. Just checking - do you have the right trigger pattern?

I've ground the right teeth off so I have that correct 6+1 pattern but it has raised teeth rather than slots. I didn't think that would be an issue, just would need to switch the sensor polarity. It's all skewed a few degrees retarded as I didn't have a tooth that lined up on tdc for cyl 1 but in this application that should be fine
