Bought a car car back that I used to own the other day. It's a 88 Ford Laser TX3 4WD turbo. It's been sitting in a shed for the last 10 years so the usual dust and off fuel, but it started right up and drove.

First job is to convert it to Delco of course.

Pulled out the old 28lb denso injectors which were full of crud and drilled the fuel rail from 11mm to 13.5mm to fit the L67 bosch injectors that will do for now.

The camira throttle body fitted with a bit of drilling and filing to the mounting bolts and a relocation of the throttle cable stay.

Ordered a d1927a ignition module from the USA today so when that arrives in a few weeks I should have an ecu wired in.

Plan is to clean it up and get it running well then club reg it. Should make a fun cruiser.

Yeah that should be a good bit of fun. Nice one! Have you thought about what you will use for trigger system?

Why did you pick that ign module. I use Camira ones. Cheap and readily available.

Yeah it was a fun car back in the day, just not the strongest gearbox. I went through a couple.

I made up 2 crank trigger wheels for the rb30 so I'll pull the balancer off the B6T and see if it will fit or make a new one.

I have a camira module here but I want to get rid of the dizzy completely. It hangs right out the back of the head in the way.

If you need to hand drill locating holes to mount the trigger, watch out for higher rpm misfire from tiny imperfections meaning trigger wheel is off centre I wasted nearly 2 years and rewired the whole loom, replaced sensors, replaced trigger wheels and after all that - that is what it turned out to be. Couldnt see it by eye.

Making some progress on the trigger wheel. The diameter is bigger than the rb30 or else I could have just cut a keyway in the spare wheel and used it.
Machined up a blank on the lathe and hand filed the keyway. Next is to drill the bolt holes and then cut the signal grooves. I'll be going back through the forum posts until I'm happy I have the registration correct as unlike the rb30 this wheel is keyed and will be set.

A bit of progress on the trigger wheel and the 4cyl module arrived from the US today. It took a full month but as long as it works then all is fair. Next steps is to wire in the 808 and fit some GM sensors.

Well unfortunately the second hand d1927a is only sending voltage to one of the coils. Tried another known good coil pack and even swapped them around before just measuring the module output voltages. Good voltage on the B bank when cranking and almost nothing on A. Surprisingly it still runs on 2 cylinders. Ordered a replacement module from the states today, so in a month we will see. Might need to find something else to Delco swap in the mean time., maybe the postie bike.

Not saying your module is good, but when my trigger signal wasnt good enough I had a lot of trouble like this. I was also swapping modules and get it to run kinda, decide a module was dead and carry on. But eventually when I got a strong enough trigger signal I found all the coilpacks were OK. It'll be good to try another one but I'd suggest to mark that one and hold on to it, you might find that its OK after all and the difference in the measurement might be normal.

Well I spent a little time today and set the dizzy up with a camira module. Firing on 4 with timing set at 10deg. Ecu wiring is 50% there but atleast now I can move it around while I wait for the new module to arrive.
