Hi guys
I've searched but had mixed results. I am in the middle of restoring a vn hsv wagon. Although the engine is ok i purchased a engine/ wiring / ecu from a vs manual. My rationale was as my engine has had a hard life rather than rebuild its cheaper to buy one recently built with receipts etc. Anyway it apparently has a tuned memcal but I'm now getting to the stage of installing engine. Now looking into it it seems I may be been wrong about using vs ecu and wiring in my car. What's my best options? Is there any way to use this setup or at worst copy the calibrations accross to older 808?

VS V8 manual has a different service number is the 808 computer but with high speed comms from factory so you dont need to add ecm comms hardware to get it. Stick with that. If its V8 Auto then its the 424 which is a very similar platform, only has 11P software instead of 12P which is actually slightly newer and can control the 4L60E and is still MAP. If you have that, stick with that. Its only the v6 ecotec that went the MAF PCM type computers, exception is the VS S3 V6 which was a short run of the VT computer at the end of the previous model, and then in the VT the 5L V8 got the VT MAF PCM computer as well, until the end of VT, where they did it again and upgraded the engine shortly before introducing the new model (VX) by putting the LS1 in with it the P01 computer.

The 808 type computers have one type of connector, the 424 has another. What's the service number on your ECM/PCM?
