Remote programming

Post by Denny »

Hi everyone. I was wondering if someone could program a ECU remotely??? Is it even possible??? I used Powerpcm flasher and a Sm2 clone to read the ECU. It's a gm E38. Looking for someone that can write the full bin. I have already altered the bin with the vats delete patch in Universal Patcher. Just need it full flashed. Powerpcm flasher doesn't write the areas needed for the vats delete to work. Let me know if you can help??? Thanks for reading.

U-Link NT from usbbdm can remote CAN over internet U-Link NT to U-Link NT, but given you need a U-Link NT anyway, may as well do it yourself locally.

Thanks for the reply MPC001. I forgot to update the post. A forum member generously helped me out. To that person I want to say, thanks again. Also thanks for the info MPC001, I was still curious if remote programming was possible. So the Ulink NT can remote program. Pretty cool.

You are most welcome. Glad to you hear you got it all sorted. Curious as to what HW/SW tool was used.

Hi, I used a SM2 Pro clone. It's worked with every software I tried so far. The software used is a members personal work, very well done, simple and to the point program. I can't say who it is, but if he's reading this, thanks again. The software is Vin locked to my Ecu. The main thing is I can use PowerPCM flasher for calibration writes now. I plan on buying a Ulink Nt eventually. As for now I can continue my project.

Do you need two Ulink Nt's to remote program? Or just one? Thanks for your reply, and interest.

Thanks for the insight. Yes ULink NT required each end. Think of it as CAN over internet.

Tuning SW/HW >> CAN >> ULink NT HW >> ULink NT SW >> PC >> INTERNET >> PC >> ULink NT SW >> ULink NT HW >> CAN >> ECU

Okay, I get it now. Thanks for the explanation. So it would be good for helping someone who doesn't know what they are doing. Still pretty cool, even if you need 2 Ulink Nt's.

Yes cool & relatively low cost depending on perspective, but still risky for actual programming/flashing in real time (especially a full OS & cal flash vs just a cal flash) as an internet glitch still quite possible that could brick an ECU.
