For something a little different, and after having a VR 5L in it previously which I got bored with, decided one of these little Toyota 1UZ V8s was the go....

Right now its running a wolf3d V4 Plus. Runs like a champ and does everything I want, except one thing....it does not control the toyota elctronic trans. So built a tiptronic controller for it, has no wires under the steering column as it uses the horn slip ring and has a gear display....

I am looking at converting to VR PCM with custom code, always intended to from the start but the issue of twin dizzies was a problem and I needed the car as a daily driver - the conversion was done in 3 weeks while I could borrow a car so was pretty rushed. Its now been retired to weekend use, although it has not moved for ages from the garage, so am looking seriously at a delco conversion again.

Yeah she revs ok :) Runs out of puff a little due to the intake manifold, but i turn it 6500RPM pretty often. Its all stock and ran 210RWHP on a basic tune to make it drivable, most people see 200-240 at the tyres depending on fuel and transmission with a stock motor.

its about time you posted some info up about this thing :)

its looks like you've done a fair bit of work with the wiring etc to get the auto working!!

i understand how you can get tired of having to change every gear all the time .... i have paddles on the steering wheel in the vz, its good when you want to have a fang but its nice to be able to push the a/s button and go back to full auto :)

i don't understand why people worry so much about the twin dizzies on these. why not just turf it and run a V8 dizzy off one of the cams ? then delco up a storm ?

Yeah would certainly be nice, the dual sensors 22.5deg apart is not easy to fabricate!

Finally get to move this to the Delco section :D

First start in near on a year, but instead of a Wolf 3D its now got a '424 VR auto PCM .. http://youtu.be/89emM0uX8T8 . Still retains the twin dizzy setup :ugeek:

Lots to get right still (cranking fuel is a bit light on, and the IAC steps are crazy high) but it started up and idled smooth as silk - as a lexus should :P Just gotta finish the wiring up and get the auto box connected up.
