Re: VN V8 timing
Most jap cars I have seen had one usually at the engine, never checked at the pump end to see if they had one or not. The one in the tank is more likely there to reduce or eliminate the fluid hammer effect and therefore is likely there to protect the pump from a reduced life span. Hammer effect on t...

Re: VN V8 timing
Missed your reply on the previous page, yeah that thing is a pulse damper. Not crucial but generally better than a straight line, but they are hard to get and expensive. I was only ever able to get them from the US. The part number is FP27. They normally only stuff up if you tear the seals during in...

Re: VN V8 timing
I prefer to use used injectors and get them going that way than to have them serviced with the typical ultrasonic cleaning. The main reason is all injectors I have had serviced this way weep fuel after where previously they didn't. Like literally 100% of them fail in this same way after a profession...

Re: VN V8 timing
The injectors do get blocked/stuck from the residual fuel oxidizing, breaking down and turning into varnish. Clean fuel doesn't dissolve that stuff, sometimes the pintle breaks free and they get going but they flow badly for a long time due to the stubborn varnish. I haven't tried this myself yet, b...

Re: VN V8 timing
Yeah it's made from poly urethane I believe which isn't stable in very long term, although modern formulations are a massively better in that regard and items will last decades no issues now. Poly is also sensitive to alcohols which is why fuels like E10 etc cause that one hose to soften and swell. ...

Re: VN V8 timing
Assume you have a new pump and filter, if not, I'd be checking those. My brother's ute's pump worked but no pressure, only a dribble. The filter was blocked with carbon from the pump brushes. I've also had pumps years ago that ran, but didn't build anymore than about 2-3psi despite some flow. Blocke...

Re: 4L60E Complete Rebuild
Yeah I have seen this a lot with LS specifically which seems to an issue with LS mainly, because it happens with manuals too under a heavy clutch on them. I'd say the V6 is pretty safe from the tear downs I have done with decently heavy clutches and zero evidence of wear, but a clutch isn't pushing ...
