Re: Microsoft Operating system transfer between systems?

Brother says its a hardware id hash made up of all sorts of pieces, CPU ID, HDD ID etc so it'll know its not in the PC you activated. He also says that most people that just swap hdd to a new PC find it will work just fine, windows checks if the old machine is active online and if not it lets you ca...

Re: Ecotec LS Coil Driver

I have an LS coil here, I can pop it on the scope and track primary current vs dwell. I'll take a look tomorrow then we'll know what max dwell is and also what happens after

Re: Ecotec LS Coil Driver

It sounds a lot more primitive than I thought it would be. I was expecting constantly evolving solutions and corrections. I guess comparing and weighting algorithms is just as good if it is right more often than not.

so is 20deg at cranking (3ms @ 250rpm) a problem?

Re: Ecotec LS Coil Driver

I was curious to see if it really did learn from your correction to its math, it didn't. I asked the same question you did and got the same wrong answer. I wonder how many corrections it needs to stick? or does it only correct your own login? After a prompt, it got the correct answer chatgpt_deg.JPG

Re: Ecotec LS Coil Driver

I tried to get chatGPT to work out the raise in temperature from compression alone, 400cc, 10:1, 20deg starting air temp and it worked it out to be hotter than the surface of the sun. Even when I fed it the ideal gas law, the numbers were really off, 1000x or more. It kept reducing the formula down,...

Re: Ecotec LS Coil Driver

500RPM = 8.333 hz. = 120ms per rotation. 120 / 360 degrees = 0.333ms / degree = 9 degrees per 3mS

250RPM = 18degrees per 3mS

1000RPM = 4.5deg

10 crank deg is 6ms at cranking RPM (going by oscilloscope traces for my 36-1 trigger wheel decoder)

Re: N13 Turbo - Round 2... Fight!

Intake valves don't really have the same problem as exhaust. As soon as the intake valve opens and the cylinder fills there's no difference to NA. Both sides of the valve have pretty similar pressures on them as it is closing and by the time the valve seats, cylinder pressure is already higher than ...

Re: Trigger Wheel Decoder / Coil driver

Yeah i've gutted a dead n13 ignition module to use for the connectors. Seems to be the easiest way to keep the loom intact.

Re: Trigger Wheel Decoder / Coil driver

Doesn't look like there is a coil pack for 6 cyl. There are Saab/Mitsubishi COPs that do the ion knock detection and I assume the separate ionization module? Although the module pin out suggests 4 cyl. The V6 saabs use coil on plug which goes through the controller module which does the ion sense s...
