Re: Turbocharging the ecotec motor

How come a stock 4L60e dies behind a V6 and yet they live behind LS motors? There is currently a class action lawsuit against Holden/GM about failing late model transmissions in Commodores, slipping/failing converters. OEM they are tuned to constantly slip the TCC! Anyway I was doing some reading a...

Re: Turbocharging the ecotec motor

True that. I don’t think there’s much gains to be had from a stock ecotec. Not in the VY’s anyway. Playing around with the trans settings gives some good gains, but I think from there you really need parts. A good stally would be my number 1 pick. Then cam, fuel system and boost. Then just see what ...

Re: Turbocharging the ecotec motor

The transgo pro kit is nice. You almost don’t notice it normal day to day, a to b driving. But progressively gets firmer as you mash the loud pedal. Then tweaking the up shift speeds keeps the little v6 in its power band but without effecting the low speed low throttle cruising. Then the downshifts ...

Re: Turbocharging the ecotec motor

I didn’t like the transgo hd2 kit but that’s probably on the harsher settings. I’d never go a b&m kit again 🤬 don’t ask. But yeah definitely don’t be a hero and ask too much from a 60 🤣

Re: Turbocharging the ecotec motor

This is the trans setting's in mine. Pretty happy with them, But also like to point out it's not turbo and has changes for the mace throttle body and thermostat. Also fitted with a transgo pro shift kit on the softer setting's. So didn't drill the valve body separator plate.

Re: Turbocharging the ecotec motor

Can't argue Holden went cheap :( I was watching a video just the other day of a L26 been stripped and it had exhaust manifold gaskets fitted, Holden didn't even bother with those! My mate just got a bone stock VR which appears to be very tidy and in very good condition all round including the trans...

Re: Turbocharging the ecotec motor

It also seems to be pretty common among the v6 community to fit shift kits thinking that’ll fix there slipping issues 🤣. Plus most will go for the harsher settings when fitting a shift kit. Not really a good idea.

Re: Turbocharging the ecotec motor

Probably age, abuse and neglect. Ls’s are newer and I’m sure a lot of young fellas found their way into a v6 before a v8. The ls’s 60’s are also slightly stronger. But as you know heat is the number 1 killer. I think you pointed out, the early commodores had smaller trans lines which they fixed late...
