P01 bricked or locked?

Post by dstovall1019 »

I have either bricked or locked my PCM and need help determining which and how to fix it if possible. Not sure what is needed but just tell me and I'll do my best to provide. I bought a truck a while back that had already tuned PCM and having issues so me being me decided I'll give it a shot. Long story short I used Tunerpro rt to edit then PCM hammer to load it. My kids were bugging me and I don't have a clue if I did something not paying attention or not knowing but either way now it doesn't work. I have a bench harness setup. 2002 Chevy Silverado Z71 with P01 411 pcm. I've tried everything I've read in clueing grounding pin in PCM to recover mode. No luck. Obviously I'm new to this. I have successfully edited my other PCM/vehicles using tunerpro and PCM hammer and also ls droid. Never had a problem other than not knowing how to actually tune but baby steps right lol

I'd suggest you update to pcmhammer 014 as it has some fixes, but i dont think thats your problem here. Did you read the bin with that interface? It looks just like a standard elm which cant handle packets long enough to read the pcm. Otherwise it could be a wiring problem on your bench, pcm not powered, no ignition signal, no ground or data between the pcm and the interface. Its possible but unlikely thats unlikely from what you have said, they are pretty hard to brick.

You can also look at the debug tab and cut and paste a connection attempt from there and we can see a bit more about whats going on.
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396
